Growing up in Bonner County and Boundary County, and having lived here more than three decades, I’ve had the opportunity to learn, work, and play here. I graduated from Bonners Ferry High School and went on to the University of Idaho where I earned a degree in mechanical engineering. My Idaho education laid the foundation for a career in the Navy, full time initially and as a reservist later, for a total of twenty-one years of military service. I’ve worked locally in the construction industry since 2000. Currently, I own and operate Apex Construction Services, a heavy construction and excavating company, established in 2008.

Avid runner – from 19 yrs of age up to the point of a hip replacement at age 42 (Not from the running!)
Private pilot as of January 2017 – currently around 130 hrs and still flying safely. Thanks to Wayne Sommers for teaching me and Dave Parker for creating the learning environment.
I’m running for the District 1 State Senate seat to preserve and enhance the quality of life we enjoy in North Idaho. We have friendly people, beautiful surroundings, and diverse economic opportunities. I’d like to see the next generation of Idahoans enjoy what we call home.
Brenda has been an educator from the beginning. She worked as a tutor while attending the University of Idaho. From there she went on to teach at the University of Washington, Shoreline Community College, Edmonds Community College, Schenectady Community College, and Coeur d’Alene High School. Brenda has volunteered extensively at all grade levels in the Lake Pend O’reille school district and served as the district volunteer coordinator through a PAFE grant. Currently she is the science teacher at Lake Pend O’reille High School. During the summer months, she can be found selling baked goods at the Sandpoint Farmers’ Market, applying her chemistry degree in a tasty manner.
Avery is a 2017 Sandpoint High School graduate, headed to the University of Idaho for the fall semester.
